Introduction

This was a period house that had been converted into a guest house and restaurant. With a long private driveway and perched on the shores of Lough Derg it was an idyllic setting for conversion of existing to a stately family home. This is what we achieved by reroofing with reclaimed quarry slates and completely gutting the existing to create a contemporary building while maintaining the exterior appearance of the original. A large roof lantern transformed the interior by way of immense light. A new staircase along with hand made joinery added to the high quality finish. A glazed conservatory and entrance porch were discreetly added to replace existing buildings. Some interior mouldings were maintained and repaired and matching mouldings added to rest of house. A state of the art heating system was installed with underfloor heating. Beautiful mosaic floors and high quality sanitary ware and fitted kitchen enhanced the finished product. A cobble courtyard and extensive landscaping made this house one of the finest in the country.
